I have had a wonderful experience working with Ron Harden and the other NAIP staff as well as with staff from Erie Insurance Group here in Erie, PA. I have been exposed to the exciting career as an insurance agent, and obtained two impressive professional designations, all while earning cash that will help with my final semester at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. I have ultimately been blessed with the opportunity to stay on with NAIP and Omni Insurance Services, LLC as a multi-line producer, and I am extremely excited about what the future holds for not only myself individually, but for us as an organization. The professionalism and commitment to education and true customer care is, in my mind, what sets NAIP apart from other internship opportunities. I would highly recommend to any of my friends and fellow students to check out NAIP. You certainly won’t regret it" – Brian Moritz, Erie, PA.
"For the internship program we took a week long road trip to visit different people in the insurance business. We went to Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC, and also made stops in Richmond, VA and Washington, DC on our way back to Erie. The meat of the trip was meetings and short visits with executives and agents. Our first visit was with Elizabeth Carter, the assistant V.P. of finance, planning and analysis for AIG. She elaborated on her job and explained some of her companies policies, and the President Jim Dwayne also sat in during the meeting for a bit and described his career journey and where it’s taken him thus far. Our next meeting took us to Zurich financial services, also in Atlanta, GA. We met with the operations manager of claims, Wendy Brown. She’s been in the business for quite some time and had a lot of knowledge to share, even a few anecdotes about how certain situations in can be very different when you’re at another firm and/or a different position. In Alpharetta, GA our next insurance encounter was at MetLife Auto and Home, with V.P. of financial services and agency distribution, Rudy Loney. Out of all of our meetings, Mr. Loney had the most experience. He like the others we spoke to gave us a little background information about himself and described his position and the company. The next meeting of the trip was in charlotte, NC at the Erie Insurance branch there. We met with two supervisors. We again got first-hand experiences from insurance professionals. Our last stop on the trip was in Washington D.C. We visited Howard University and some of the sites like the White House for example. Later that night we met with another insurance agent, Lorenzo Alston. Mr. Alston is also a founding member of the NAIP, the organization which started the internship program. So without him and others I wouldn’t have been able to take this great trip. All in all, the trip was a success. I gained a lot of information about various positions, differently personal experiences, and met of lot of people working in the business. All of which I will use in securing my license and becoming and agent. " - Brandon Thomas, Erie, PA.
